Things to Do

Appledore

Take a leisurely stroll through the narrow streets of Appledore lined with fishermen and merchants' houses. Visit the RNLI Appledore station at the end of Irsha Street (just 2 minutes walk from Seagulls). The views from here at "Badstep" are exceptional, particularly at sunset.

The Maritime Museum is definitely worth a visit, not only for the history of the village but for the extensive American World War II preparations in the area.

Crabbing is a must from Appledore Quay. Just before High Tide, children and adults will be dropping their lines over the quayside competing to get the most and the biggest crabs!

Appledore has many excellent, pubs, restaurants and cafés. Visit John's Deli for fresh bread and provisions as well as the fish market for locally caught fish and shellfish.

You can't write about Appledore without mentioning Hockings Ice Cream, locally made in the village. Give yourself a treat and add a splodge of clotted cream - a firm family favourite!
